Fownhope Recreation Field Association

About

The village has a Recreation Field which provides beautiful views across the Wye valley. It covers 11.5  acres and is open for use by everybody. It is used for a range of sports and numerous other less organised leisure activities. It has also been used for charity cricket matches between The Lords Taverners and a team from Hereford Hospital and as an organised campsite for young canoeists on the Wye.

Sporting facilities include 2 football pitches, an artificial cricket strip, a skateboard facility and a floodlit practice area. There is an excellent play area suitable for children up to the age of 12 and it is hoped to provide facilities for older children in the near future

The pavilion, apart from having the usual changing rooms, showers etc, will hold up to 95 people on 2 floors. Originally created as a sports pavilion the main rooms are now completely separate from the sports facilities and are also used for keep fit classes, bingo, parish council meetings, family parties - and as a centre for activities using the sports field and surrounding countryside.
