Working Groups

We have established a number of working groups, made up of both councillors and members of the public, to provide greater capacity to our Parish Council

More Information

With an ever increasing range of responsibilities, it has become harder for the Council to do everything it needs to do within the restraints of one Parish Council meeting per month. To that end it has established a number of working groups, made up of both councillors and members of the public, who meet outside the Council and have the responsibility of discussing, exploring and developing ideas and then reporting back to the Council with recommendations. They have no decision making powers but simply present the Council with their findings. Nevertheless, their ability to give particular topics that much more time outside an agenda driven meeting has proved invaluable.

Each group has a Leader and a Deputy-Leader, who is generally expected to take over as Leader in the fullness of time. Membership of the working groups is confirmed at the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, with a major review of membership and leadership to be held every two years including the year following parish council elections.

Members of groups undertake relevant training (external or in-house), as identified by the Clerk, and there is always a sufficient hand-over process between an outgoing Leader and his/her successor to ensure continuity.

If you are interested in joining one of the groups yourself then please contact the Parish Clerk, or the Chair of the working group itself - but be warned, a number of people now on the Parish Council started off by joining one of the working groups!
